Budr: Connecticut’s Top-Rated Dispensary Sets a New Standard in Adult-Use Cannabis

28 October 2024

Founded by Carl Tirella Jr. and Derrick Gibbs, Budr represents a new era in Connecticut’s cannabis industry—one rooted in quality, compassion, and community impact. Voted as Connecticut’s top-rated dispensary by CT Businesses, Budr is more than a place to buy cannabis; it’s a space dedicated to enriching lives through a thoughtful approach to cannabis and social equity.

Meet Our Founders: Carl Tirella Jr. and Derrick Gibbs

Carl’s journey began in the cannabis sector, where he managed three medical dispensaries in Connecticut. During that time, he saw firsthand how cannabis could positively impact patients struggling with serious conditions like PTSD, cancer, and epilepsy. Driven by these experiences, Carl wanted to create a place where he could make an even greater impact, which led him to co-found Budr.

Derrick, meanwhile, came from a career in home healthcare, where he spent 15 years providing essential services to elderly and disabled patients. This background inspired him to offer a product that could benefit individuals in meaningful ways, much like the support he had provided in healthcare.

Together, Carl and Derrick share a goal of giving back to their communities. With over a decade of combined experience in cannabis, they seized the opportunity to launch Budr when Connecticut legalized marijuana for adult use. This venture was their chance to blend their expertise and passions, creating a dispensary that would serve both individuals and the broader community.

A Commitment to Community and Social Equity

At Budr, community impact and social equity are guiding principles. As a Social Equity Joint Venture Retailer, Budr is 50% minority-owned and committed to building a diverse workforce. The company’s Workforce Development Plan focuses on fostering inclusivity through outreach, training, and employment opportunities, ensuring that all current and future locations uphold these values.

Budr’s Vision for the Future

Budr’s philosophy is rooted in the belief that cannabis can be a powerful tool for wellness, connection, and community growth. With a steadfast commitment to quality products and a welcoming environment, Budr continues to set a new standard for cannabis dispensaries in Connecticut and beyond.

For those seeking an exceptional, community-focused cannabis experience, Budr is leading the way with a vision that’s as compassionate as it is innovative.
