STRATFORD, CT — Stratford officials recently welcomed a new eatery to town.

Mayor Laura Hoydick and other town leaders attended a ribbon cutting Sept. 22 for El Cafecito Deli, located at 7365 Main St. in Oronoque Plaza.

El Cafecito is owned by sisters Glexy and Lary Solano, who have spent more than 15 years in the restaurant business, according to information provided by the town. The deli serves American and Central American food, and specializes in Salvadorian pupusas, or filled corn tortillas.

The eatery announced that it had opened in early March on Facebook, and switched to offering takeout, delivery and curbside pickup before the peak of the coronavirus pandemic's spring wave in Connecticut.
