Chris Webby Is Putting Connecticut on Notice—and We Should All Be Paying Attention

11 July 2025

Connecticut artist Chris Webby has long been known for using his voice to speak truth—but this time, the message goes far beyond music.

Recently, Webby took to social media to raise concerns about the chemical spraying of Connecticut’s waterways, claiming the state moved forward with the use of Diquat—a substance reportedly more toxic than Glyphosate—despite earlier indications that spraying would be postponed until 2026. According to Webby, this decision comes in direct opposition to public sentiment and growing environmental concerns.

CT Businesses is not taking a stance on the scientific claims or political decisions referenced. However, we believe when local voices raise questions about health, safety, and environmental impact, they deserve to be heard.

Webby’s post struck a chord with many in the Connecticut community, especially among small business owners who depend on clean waterways for tourism, recreation, and quality of life. His message has gone beyond state lines, highlighting what he calls a broader pattern of questionable chemical use in other parts of the country.

“This was never about me. It was about protecting the state I call home,” Webby wrote. “The people, the animals, and our water.”

While some media outlets have criticized Webby, accusing him of spreading misinformation, his commitment to raising awareness and starting conversation remains unwavering. From our perspective, that level of civic engagement is exactly what makes Connecticut stronger.

In a time when many stay silent, Webby is using his platform to speak up. Whether or not people agree on the specifics, his passion for protecting his home state is undeniable—and many in the business community are paying attention.

“This isn’t about politics. It’s about water. And if that isn’t a fight worth fighting, then I don’t know what is.”

At CT Businesses, we support open dialogue and community-driven advocacy. We commend anyone—like Chris Webby—who uses their platform to shine a light on issues that matter to the people of Connecticut.
