Popular Wine Bar, Tapas Restaurant Closes In Norwalk After Nearly A Decade

22 February 2026

NORWALK, CT — A well-known local wine bar and tapas restaurant has permanently closed its doors in Norwalk after nearly ten years of operation at The Waypointe development.

Barcelona Wine Bar, located at 515 West Avenue, served Norwalk residents and visitors from its Waypointe location until this past weekend, according to a company spokesperson.

The Waypointe restaurant opened in late 2016 as a prototype location. The site was selected due to its proximity to the company’s headquarters and was used to test new restaurant design concepts, equipment, and operational strategies.

While Barcelona Wine Bar continues to operate restaurants across 11 states and Washington, D.C., including four other Connecticut locations in Fairfield, Stamford, New Haven, and West Hartford, the Norwalk location is the only one closing at this time.

According to the company, team members were offered positions at other locations or within the corporate office. Those who declined were provided severance packages.

The restaurant group also announced plans for a new concept, Corsica Wine Bar, which is expected to open this fall in Darien.

What This Means for Norwalk’s Restaurant Scene

Barcelona Wine Bar had been a staple in the Norwalk dining community, known for its extensive wine selection and Spanish-inspired small plates. Its closure marks another shift within Fairfield County’s evolving restaurant landscape, particularly within mixed-use developments like The Waypointe.
